Incubus was formed in Calabasas, California, USA in January 1991 by school friends Brandon Boyd, Mike Einziger, Alex Katunich aka Dirk Lance, and José Pasillas II. Like almost any band, they started out playing at parties and shows and later on when people started hearing about Incubus lyrics and melodeis, they moved on to performing at bars and clubs in LA.

On November 1, 1995, they had an independent release of Fungus Amongus. They soon introduced DJ Lyfe (Gavin Koppel) to the group, who added a flavor of hip-hop to their already rich mix of music diversity.

In January 1997, they released the six-track Enjoy Incubus EP and collaborated with DJ Greyboy on the Spawn movie soundtrack.

September that same year S.C.I.E.N.C.E. was released, and touring to promote the album, DJ Lyfe was replaced by DJ Kilmore (Chris Kilmore).

Two years later, after almost continual touring, Make Yourself was released which included the phenomenal Pardon Me and Drive.

On August 2000 they released yet another 6 track album When Incubus Attacks, which is a compilation of live and acoustic performances.

The band released Morning View in 2001 which included acoustic guitars and touches of strings to make less noise, but more impact, which could be seen in Incubus lyrics. Morning View is a leap forward for a band that continues to get better with each release.

Dirk Lance was replaced by Ben Kenney in April 2003 and in February 2004 Incubus released their latest album, A Crow left of the Murder with Incubus lyrics that have strong political messages. Though it may not appeal to the Fungus Amoungus fans or the mainstream Morning View fans, this album definitely has Incubus lyrics and tones that all the fans in between will absolutely love.
